A speedcubing timer that remembers your progress

Most online timers forget you the moment you close the tab. Sub-X is built for cubers chasing a goal: time your solves here for free, then create a free account to keep every solve, watch your AO100 trend build over weeks, and get a data-driven estimate of exactly how many solves it'll take to hit your next sub-X.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Sub-X cube timer free?
Yes. The timer is completely free, with WCA-compliant scrambles, inspection, and Bluetooth smart-cube support for 3×3, 4×4, and 5×5. No payment and no sign-up are required to start timing.
Do I need an account to use the timer?
No. You can start timing immediately as a guest. Your solves are saved in your browser on this device. Creating a free account keeps them forever, syncs them across devices, and unlocks your AO100 trend, growth prediction, and public profile.
Does the timer use official WCA scrambles?
Yes. Scrambles are generated with a WCA-style random-state scrambler, and a 15-second inspection phase is available, the same format used in official competitions.
Can I connect a Bluetooth smart cube?
Yes. Connect a supported Bluetooth smart cube to time hands-free and get move-by-move reconstructions with TPS and per-phase (cross, F2L, OLL, PLL) splits, all in the browser, with no app to install.
What happens to the solves I record as a guest?
Guest solves are stored locally in your browser. When you sign up or sign in, they are automatically imported into your account so nothing is lost when you switch from guest mode.
Does the timer have a WCA inspection period?
Yes. Turn it on under Timer settings and each solve starts with a 15-second countdown, with the 8-second and 12-second calls a judge would make. Start between 15 and 17 seconds and the solve is recorded with a +2; past 17 seconds it is a DNF, exactly as the WCA regulations say. Auto-penalties have their own switch if you would rather just practise against the clock, and every penalty stays editable afterwards.
Can I enter times from a stackmat or another timer?
Yes. Switch "Entering times" to "Type time" under Timer settings and type each solve in instead of running the on-screen timer. That is handy if you practise on a SpeedStacks timer. Type it any way you like: 12.34, 1234 (csTimer’s shorthand for 12.34), or 1:23.45, adding +2 or DNF for a penalty.
Does the timer work for 4×4 and 5×5?
Yes. Switch events at the top of the timer. Each event gets its own scrambles and session stats, and once you sign in, its own independent AO100, targets, and AI coaching.
