Connect a GAN or MoYu Bluetooth cube and Sub-X reconstructs every solve move by move — cross, F2L, OLL and PLL splits, per-pair F2L, TPS, and the pauses in between. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install.

What a smart cube gives you that a timer can't

A stopwatch records one number per solve. A smart cube records every turn, so the solve can be taken apart afterwards.

Every solve is broken into its four CFOP phases, so you can see where the time actually goes instead of guessing from a single number.

Recognition vs execution

Each phase separates the pause before you move from the turning itself. A slow OLL caused by recognition needs different practice from one caused by execution.

F2L is split again into its four pairs, each with its own recognition, execution and TPS — which is where lookahead problems show up.

TPS, measured not estimated

Turns per second comes from the cube’s own move timestamps, per phase, rather than dividing a move count by your total time.

After ten smart solves, Sub-X names the phase costing you the most against benchmarks for your speed — and says whether it is a recognition or an execution problem.

How it works

    Pair the cube

    Click connect, pick your cube from the browser’s Bluetooth prompt, and confirm the MAC address once if you are asked for it.

    Scramble to the scramble

    Sub-X shows a WCA scramble and watches the cube apply it. The solve arms itself the moment the cube’s state matches — no pressing anything.

  3. 3

    Inspect and solve

    A 15-second WCA inspection window starts. Your first turn starts the timer, and returning to solved stops it. The reconstruction is saved with the solve.

You'll need a browser with Web Bluetooth

Chrome, Edge and Opera on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, or Chrome on Android. Safari does not implement Web Bluetooth, and every browser on iOS and iPadOS uses Safari's engine — so an iPhone or iPad cannot connect a smart cube on the web. Everything else on Sub-X works there; the timer just runs without the cube.

Frequently asked questions

Which smart cubes work with Sub-X?

GAN cubes using the Gen2, Gen3 or Gen4 Bluetooth protocols — including the GAN356 i3, i Carry, i Carry 2 and i4, the GAN12 and GAN13 series, and the Monster Go MG3AI — plus the MoYu WeiLong V10 AI and other MoYu cubes using the MY32 protocol. The original GAN356i (Gen1) is not supported.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Sub-X talks to the cube over Web Bluetooth directly from the browser. There is nothing to download and no account required to try it.

Which browsers support a Bluetooth smart cube?

Any browser with Web Bluetooth: Chrome, Edge and Opera on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, and Chrome on Android. Safari does not implement Web Bluetooth, and every browser on iOS and iPadOS uses Safari’s engine, so iPhones and iPads cannot connect a cube on the web.

Why does it ask for my cube’s MAC address?

GAN and MoYu cubes encrypt their Bluetooth data with a key derived from the cube’s MAC address. Browsers only expose that automatically behind an experimental flag, and not at all once the cube is paired at the operating-system level, so Sub-X asks for it once and remembers it for next time.

What do the phase splits actually measure?

Every solve is reconstructed move by move from the cube’s own timestamps, then divided into cross, F2L, OLL and PLL. Each phase separates recognition (the pause before you move) from execution (the turning), and F2L is broken down again into its four pairs. After ten smart solves Sub-X compares the results to benchmarks for your speed and names the phase costing you the most.

Is it free?

Yes. Smart-cube timing, reconstructions and phase splits are free, and the timer works without an account. Creating a free account saves your solves and adds AO100 tracking, growth prediction and a public profile.
